Unpaginated, app. 150pp. Original spiral bound heavy brown wraps with silhouettes of Lenin and Stalin and gilt lettering on cover. Russian propaganda publication documenting the German defeat at Leningrad and Stalingrad with striking b/w photographs accompanied by patriotic text throughout. Introduction with photographic city views of both cities and text. Following is a photo-documentary of the attack and siege of Leningrad by German aircraft, tanks and artillery showing the devastation and hardship incured by the population, including the organization of defense. The next chapter, "Moscow begins its historic offensive", shows Russians efforts to aid Leningrad, e.g. the supply line called the ice rout across Lake Ladoga, some photographs of battle and the capture of German prisoners. Following is the depiction of the battle of Stalingrad with numerous photographs of battle, devastation, defense by Russian forces and the hardship endured, portraits of the members of the Supreme Command, Voronov, Vsilevsky, Rokossovsky, Yeremenko and Zhukov, planning the "unprecedented debacle" of the enemy and the launch of the historic offensive and subsequent defeat the Germans. The publication closes with photographs of the clean up and reconstruction, photographs of the murdered victims and the the vow people's cry for revenge.
