London: MacGibbon and Kee, 1966.. INSCRIBED FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp.208. Publisher's original brown cloth binding in photographic dustwrapper attributed to Colin O'Brien. Warmly inscribed "To|Kate Oatham|with every|good wish|from|Bill Naughton". Some moderate water marking to the endpapers, some sporadic light marking through the textblock, cloth slightly bumped and rubbed, dust-jacket has some chipping, water marking and creasing, front inner flap fully detached along fold. A used copy, unusual to find inscribed. Scarce original novel that was the basis for the cult 1966 film starring Michael Caine, re-made in 2004 with Jude Law.
