Pp. 286, plus 5 coloured plates, of which one is foldout, including frontispiece, and 51 halftone plates; 295-575, plus 3 coloured plates including frontispiece, and 21 halftone plates. Plus 2 double-page plates as endpapers, “Gravesend (...)” on first endpapers; “The Ile of Wite Liying (...)” on last endpapers, repeated in both volumes. Half-titles present. Decorative initials, shoulder notes. Hardcover, uniformly bound in the original publisher's blue full cloth, spines gilt, 3-4 very small worm holes at bottom edge of one cover. Overall fine. ~ First edition.
