A collection of 14 Banbury Penny chapbooks contained in a morocco-backed folding box.
All are 16/18 pages, plus wrappers. Illustrated with wood-engravings, with cuts to the upper and lower coloured wrappers. They are undated, but are circa 1825. All are untrimmed as issued; some have had slight restoration to the spines; else fine copies. The fourteen contained in a folding morocco-backed box. Titles: History of the Banbury cake. The Children in the Wood. The Children in the Wood, Restored. Short Stories, or Treasures of Truth. Anecdotes for Good Children. The Adventures of a Halfpenny; commonly called a Birmingham Halfpenny. The Good Farmer: or the Entertaining History of Thomas Wiseman. Dr. Watt's Moral Songs, for Children. Dr. Watt's Divine Songs for Children. The Rhyming Riddler's Riddle Book. The Trial of an Ox, for Killing a Man. The galloping Guide to the ABC. Poetic Trifles, or Pretty Poems for Young Folks. The Entertaining History of Dick Whittington, and wonderful Adventures of His Cat.
