Questa mappa dell'Abbruzzo Ulteriore, che compare per la prima volta nell'Additamentum del 1590 del Thatrum Orbis Terrarum di Ortelius, si basa sostanzialmente sulla carta di Natale Bonifacio, stampata su un solo foglio, edita a Roma nel 1587 (Meurer p. 118), Esemplare tratto dall'edizione latina del 1592 del Theatrum Orbis Terrarum. Incisione su rame, magnifica coloritura coeva, in ottimo stato di conservazione. Testo Latino al verso. This map of Ulterior Abruzzi, occures for the first time in 1590 Additamentum of Theatrum Orbis Terrarum by Ortelius. It's based on the work by Natale Bonifacio (1538-1592) , on a single sheet, published in Rome in 1587 (Meurer p. 118). This example was part of 1592 Latin edition of Theatrum. Copper engraving, originals colors, in very good condition. Latin text on verso. Koeman: The unique position held by Ortelius' Theatrum in the history of cartography is to be attributed primarily to its qualification as 'the world's first regularly produced atlas.' Its great commercial success 'enabled it to make so great a contribution to geographical culture throughout Europe in the later 16th century.'
