Cortez, CO: Colorado Consolidated Land & Water Company. Good. 1890. Pamphlet. Green pictorial wrappers with gold and blue imprint. Moderate chipping to the spine with archival tape holding the bottom portion of wrapper. Small chips to edges of wrapper and light soiling. Folding map is browning on verso but map itself is very clean with one small tear at fold. Edges and booklet lightly browned however interior is bright and clean. "For We Have Seen the Land, and Behold It Is Very Good. Be Not Slothful To Go And Enter To Possess the Land." An uncommonly seen and detailed promotional for the Montezuma Valley of Colorado, located in the extreme Southwestern corner of the state. The map shows the land sections, including state lands and the irrigation canals of the Colorado Consolidated Land & Water Company. An interesting look at irrigation works at near the end of the 19th century. Among the irrigation canals shown are the Hermano Lateral, the RockyFord Lateral, the Cortez Lateral, the Lone Pine Lateral and the Corkscrew Lateral. The pamphlet also contains information on antiquities in the area, and recreational opportunities for hiking and fishing. With the completion of the McPhee Reservoir in 1985, the dreams of this promotional pamphlet were fulfilled. Not often seen on the market. ; B&W Photographs; 24mo 5" - 6" tall; 60 pp .
