London, Spottiswoode and Co., n.d. circa 1895. FIRST EDITION preface dated June 1895. Slim 8vo, approximately 225 x 140 mm, 9 x 5½ inches, 8 half-tone illustrations, title page printed in red and black, pages: [1]-31 + [5], the wrappers counted in the collation, bound in the original publisher's cream wrappers, red and black lettering to upper cover, (no price printed on cover), edges untrimmed. Wrapper slightly dusty, a little pale foxing throughout, tips of top corners slightly creased due to turning, otherwise a very good copy. The text comprises twenty-two charades and conundrums. 2 printings were issued at the same time. See: David Gilson, A Bibliography of Jane Austen, page 370, No F2.
