The Razor's Edge
London: William Heinemann Ltd,, 1944. Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, buff endpapers. With the dust jacket. A little rubbing to gilt on spine; an excellent, fresh copy in the jacket, with spine panel slightly faded and some trivial chipping to ends, rear panel toned with a couple of light marks. First UK edition, first impression. Inscribed by the author below the half-title, "by W. Somerset Maugham. For Sidney Searle, December 10, 1953." It is possible that Sidney Searle was a relation of Maugham's amanuensis and lover, Alan Searle, though we have been unable to trace a connection. This edition is preceded by the US edition, published on 18 April 1944, some three months earlier.
