Original cloth backed boards, with printed paper labels to spines. Some spotting/foxing to a few plates in vol 2 (mostly marginal). Fine chromolithographic plates by J. Henry Blake (printed by B. Meisel, Boston) illustrating previously unfigured species from the author's collection, mainly from Bolivia (vol. 1) and Venezuela (Suapure River region) (vol. 2). Most of Weeks' descriptions are reprinted here, in collected form, with a note on the original place of publication. The two portraits are of W.H. Edwards and S.H. Scudder. List of the scientific writings of W.H. Edwards at the front of vol. 2.
