Slight wear to extremities (chiefly to head and foot of spine, spine edges and corners; fraying); slight scuffing to lower edge of upper cover; slight rubbing and browning to covers (cloth; chiefly to edges); slight starting and weakening to inner hinges (at spine edges; chiefly to lower hinges); slight shaking to few signatures; previous owner's ink inscription on first preliminary leaf; slight internal browning to edges and endpapers. [8], 252, [2] pages + plates. Later issue of the John Lane edition; contains 17 essays and a prologue, plus the Parrish illustrations. Originally published in the US in 1895 by Stone & Kimball (see Kramer #43); dated 1900 on title page recto and with copyright date of 1899 opposite; printed in the US. With a tipped-in presentation card, boldly signed by Parrish in black ink (and otherwise blank), attached to half-title page.
