London Music in 1888-89 As Heard by Corno di Bassetto (Later Known As Bernard Shaw) with Some Further Autobiographical Particulars
London: Constable and Company, (1937). First Edition. Hardcover Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 420 pages. Shaw's music criticism, most published anonymously in the late 1890s. With a long autobiographical introduction and comments by Shaw after some of the essays. First edition (first printing). A very good copy in a very good dust jacket. Inscribed, 'To St. John Ervine from G.B.S. 5th Oct. 1937.' Ervine was a fellow Irish dramatist who wrote a biography of Shaw in 1956. Ervine has annotated the autobiographical prefaces in many places, perhaps in preparation for his book. A nice association.
