Cover design by Eriks Kalis (K?lis; 1904-1939) the Latvian graphic designer and scenographer, a member of the avant-garde Riga Artist Group. "[.] K?lis's design for [?] Vilips's poems, 21 dzeja [21 poems], draws on the Constructivist geometry and typography favored by Lissitzky in his Berlin books and by Kassák's own graphic programs from the early 1920s." (Davis, 2007) Pavils Vilips (P?vils V?lips; 1901-1979) was an expressionist Latvian poet, essayist, and translator, with the aspects of contemporary urban life in the focus is his art.
