Inscribed by author on front free endpaper: "To my friend Ann Orford with pleasant memories of Toronto in which she plays a large part - [signed] Blair Niles January 1941." First edition, sixth printing. 341pp. Original pale blue cloth with blue lettering. Near Fine in a badly worn Fair dust jacket with tape stain and horizontal tear with creasing across front panel, a few small edge chips and tears to spine panel, a few small pieces of archival mending tissue to verso. Uncommon in any printing of the first edition. A rare signature from Niles on her best-known work, a fictional exploration of a relationship between a straight woman and a gay man in jazz age New York City.
