Tel-Aviv Onamuth 1936 - Large 4to, pp. xiii, 319, a few facsimiles in the text, with two frontispieces, printed on either side of one leaf and 62 plates on 31 leaves; occasionally a little foxed, otherwise a clean copy, printed on high-quality paper; re-bound in recent half blue morocco, spine gilt lettered and ruled, text in German. A very attractive copy. More than just an impressive coffee-table book, this was probably the most comprehensive Herzl biography at the time, well researched, highly illustrated, and with a bibliographical appendix. Jószef Patai (1882-1953), was an eminent Hungarian poet, scholar, translator of old Hebrew literature, journalist and Zionist leader. He is the most important representative of the first generation of Hungarian Zionist intellectuals. After settling in Israel, Patai spent the rest of his life translating his own works into Hebrew. This remarkable biography was first published in Hungarian in 1932. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
