Whitehall Treasury Chambers, London 1931 - 35 cm. 133p with 6 detached hand-coloured lithographed maps (5 folding) in original blue stiff wraps. Preserved in a custom-made box of blue cloth and marbled paper with gold lettering on spine and front. Some wear and staining to the edges of the paper. Spine very fragile. Pages are clean. Text clear and unmarked. One of only several copies in existence. From ephemeral insert: "This rare report contains all the correspondence, March 1827 to February 1831: relating to the financing and cost of construction of the Rideau and Carillon Canals. The superb maps of which two are by J. Basire and four by J. Arrowsmith are as follows: Plan of the Carillon Canal, by Col. E. W. Durnford 29 x 71 cm; Plan of Part of the Ottawa and North Rivers, by G.D. Hall, 30 x 64 cm; Section of Plan of Part of the Ottawa, by E.W. Durnford, 70 x 35 cm; Longitudinal and Transverse Sections of the Dam at Hog's Back, 28 x 19 cm; Plan of the Line of the Rideau Canal showing the section of each work, by Lt. Col.
