New Preston, CT: Bernhardt Wall, 1925. Limited Edition, number 28 of 100 copies. Hard Cover. Octavo. Bernhardt Wall. 18 leaves; 16 calligraphic and pictorial etchings plus an etched label tipped in behind the front free endpaper noting that the book has been “Etched, Printed, Bound, by Berhardt Wall, personally.” Second state with additional etching behind the dedication page so noting the state and the assurances that this book is not glorifying “grog” despite the over-indulgence by the bees on nectar. Wall goes so far as to suggest that “the bee government might well follow humans and institute an 18th amendment.” A fantastic playful production for the prohibition era! Bound as issued in cloth backed boards and decorative endpapers; the usual awkward book construction as Wall was most certainly a better engraver and printer than bookbinder; light foxing throughout; previous owner name on a preliminary blank. Uncommon. “Following Berhardt Wall,” p. 36. Signed by Wall on the limitation page.
