pp.[xlviii], 260, [x], 82 with engraved, decorated title page and longitudinal half-title. Royal 16mo. Paper at front internal hinge absent. Contents in thor. vg. condition. Near contemporary leather, neatly rebacked preserving original spine; edges slightly rubbed, o/w. vg. Early manuscript number on paper label to bottom of spine. Very scarce. The copy offered here is the much enlarged & revised 1st edition, 3rd impression. No further editions or reprints followed. A highly respected publication, ?....the beginning of the work is interspersed with texts from the Bible, and is typical of the puritanical style of the day, the ?Treatise? as a whole contains much useful information on the planting and care of trees? (Henrey 7).
