They Don't Dance Much
Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1940. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. Near fine with rear bottom tip slightly exposed and name on front free endpaper in very good+ dust jacket with chipped head, wear and few closed tears along fore and top edges, tiny dampstain on back panel bottom tip. The author’s only book, an unjustly-obscure “country noir” novel acclaimed by the likes of Daniel Woodrell, George V. Higgins, Flannery O’Connor and Raymond Chandler. Quite scarce in its original pictorial jacket illustrated by George Kelley, ominously depicting the roadhouse/filling-station where the story takes place.
