Systema de Signaes para a Communicacao dos Navios Entre si, e com a Terra: em Qualquer Occasio Logar, e Tempo: e Seja qual for a Ordem Navla Adopta (and) Systema de Signaes. Parte II - Parte IV.
Rio de Janeiro: Na Impressao Regia, 1817. (2), 59-144, (2) pp. b/w title page vignette. 16 folding b/w plates (and) 59-277 pp. The note in Worldcat for the first volume reads, "Continuation of author's Escritos maritimos, Rio de Janeiro, 1816." That source shows only a single library - the John Carter Brown - holding a copy of the first volume, and only the Bibliothèque Nationale holding a copy of the second volume. Folding plates show signal flags, orders of sailing and geometrical and navigational figures. Bound in blue wrappers. Front wrap nearly detached. The second volume, as would its English language counterpart, contains glossaries, vocabularies, and "significations" - these are words and phrases, and their equivalents in signal numbers. The second volume is bound in marbled wrappers. Both volumes in very good condition, with plates and text clean and fresh. Rare.
