Attractive small bookplate of Robert Augustus Franks on the front pastedown, a trifle rubbed on the spine, still easily fine. Signed by Carnegie under the printed title on the half-title page: "by Andrew Carnegie, May 22d 1914." Biography of Carnegie's fellow Scotsman, James Watt, the inventor of the steam engine. Previous owner Robert Augustus Franks was Andrew Carnegie's financial secretary, Trustee of the Carnegie Institution, and served on the Board of the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission. Books signed by Carnegie are uncommon. .
