Quarto, modern brown half morocco, brown cloth sides, gilt decorations and lettering, t.e.g. Engraved title-page of the ass with books and owl, etc., perched on top. Pope's enormously popular Dunciad in its first enlarged edition, both in text and format. Added is the Martinus Scriblerus introductory material and numerous footnotes and appendices, "in which Pope made his attacks upon his antagonists more direct and more pungent" - Griffith.
