Complete with the three folding plates (one map and two plans), three engraved plates at the rear, and an engraved frontispiece showing "The Author in his Dress when Among Indians". Recounting in part, his observations when accompanying Long's second expedition and with the second volume devoted largely to his experiences among the Northwestern Indians, his accounts were largely discredited by his contemporaries.
