Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rvington 1884 - Hardcover in publishers original decorative cloth covered boards, boards slightly marked and edge rubbed, small patch of lighter staining to top rear corner but otherwise in Very Good condition. First edition, pp xvii, 470, 3 etchings (including frontis) and 65 other illustrations and two colour folding maps with a few small closed tears, all as called for. The authors description of the book is as follows: "I have merely tried to produce with a pen and brush an ordinary guide-book to the Congo, which may well convey to intending travellers or stay-at-home folks a fairly just impression of the main features of the great river.
