Proceedings of the Royal Geographical Society, [1st series] Volumes I-XXII
London: [The Society], 1878. 1st eds. [except as described]. Hardcover. Good. 22 vols. (now bound in 14). Recent blue buckram. 21cm. (Vols. I and II are 22cm.). Vols. III-XXII are ex lib. (Nottingham Free Public Libraries stamped one or more times in each original volume). Original wrappers not preserved on any volumes or parts of volumes except for most parts of Vols. I and II. Part I of Vol. I is original but says [Reprint] at head of title and on wrapper. Volume I also has three parts present only as recent photocopies (Parts III (pages 55-78), IX (pages 329-364) and Sir Roderick Impey Murchison's Address to the Society on 25/5/57 (separately paginated as pages 1-116). Pages 1-6 in Vol. II are also recent photocopies as are pages 81-118 in Vol. VII (now forming part of Vol. IV in this rebound set). We found a total of 35 charts and maps (31 folding) in the volumes. One other folding map ("The Sea of Uniamesi" in Vol. I) is present as a recent photocopy. Other maps, charts or tables may be missing; most volumes had no list of maps and charts although all maps and charts called are present where there is such a list. Former owner's bookplate in each volume. The previous owner credited Quentin Keynes with helping him acquire this set. Vols. I-VI were titled: Proceedings of the Royal Geographical Society of London.
