New York: Hoopukaia e L. Laiana, paiia e Biglow & Main, 1881. First edition, oblong 8vo, pp. 304; original cloth-backed printed gray boards; small crack at the top of the spine, back cover soiled, else very good. An Ayer Linguistic duplicate, with a small accession sticker on the front cover, and a small Newberry bookplate and release stamp on the front pastedown. "A hymn book for the Sabbath School, for church services, for any sacred assembly...This hymnal was a standard text in Hawaiian churches for many years. It was evidently reprinted from stereotype plates several times, although there is no indication of this on the title or elsewhere in the text. The book was originally bound in printed paper-covered boards, with an unlettered black cloth spine" (as here). A thin, typed label has been applied by the Newberry Library. Forbes 3459 giving the date of publication as 1882.
