Issued without slip for librarians at front, the first copy we've seen thus.) 361, (2) pp. Translated by Marie von Tilo. Green cloth with gilt lettering and black illustration, dark brown endpapers. Very Good condition. Cloth worn along edges, exposed tips, spine a little dulled and rubbed. Name penciled on paste down, a few stray light stains in text, signatures a bit strained. Dostoyevsky's first appearance on America shores came with this novel, typically known as House of the Dead.
