L'anémogène ou appareil reproducteur des courants atmosphèriques
Francal, Foix 1894 - Engraved frontispiece, 25 illustrations (many of which are colored). Half-cloth and marbled boards; other than some minor foxing on exterior leaves, a fine copy. Second edition of an incredibly rare treatise on an atmospheric modeling tool. The book explains the construction of an apparatus that measures the movement of air and reproduces global wind patterns. Rougerie's spherical machine mimicked the appearance of the earth with a rotating liquid or gas, which recreated atmosphere currents and could be modified by position and direction. The work includes extensive illustrated charts and maps, which informs the reader on all manner of air current variants caused by geographical and temporal seasonal factors. Rougerie (1832-1907) was the bishop of Pamiers and an avid meteorologist. He published multiple texts on scientific, historic, and Catholic subjects, including works support of charitable societies such as the French Red Cross, research on the Gallic tribes, instructions for pilgrimages, and meteorology.
