London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1926., 1926. SIGNED FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 311 [8]. Inscribed 'Vera Nelson from John Buchan' in spidery black ink to front free end-paper. Vera was the wife of Ian Nelson, who ran the publishing house Buchan worked for. In publisher's blue cloth titled in black to spine and front board. No dust jacket. Spine sunned, with marks and handling to boards. Some spotting to edges, and light even age toning to text block. Good overall. Set on the mysterious Greek island of Plakos, and featuring the character Sir Edward Leithen - an aristocratic lawyer and MP who appears in five adventures by John Buchan.
