Containing, first, the anatomy of a horse; being an exact and compendious Description of all his Parts; with their Actions and Uses: Illustrated with Figures curiously engrav'd on Copper-Plates. Secondly, an account of all the diseases incident to horses, with their Signs, Causes, and Method of Cure; wherein many Defects in the Farriers Practice are now carefully supply'd, their Errors expos'd and amended, and the Art greatly improved and advanced, according to the latest Discoveries. The Whole interspers'd with many curious and useful Observations concerning Feeding and Exercise, &c.
London printed for J. Osborn, and T. Longman, at the Ship in Pater-Noster-Row M.DCC.XXVII. [1727] 8vo: [16],109,[1]; [2],260pp (second part with separate title page and pagination, but register continuous from that of first part), with folding copper-engraved frontispiece showing parts of the horse's anatomy and seven further plates, head- and tail-pieces, and woodcut initials. Full contemporary calf, spine in six compartments, central gilt ornament stamped in each, gilt-ruled raised bands, covers framed in double gilt fillets, title page in red and black. An excellent copy of this working manual, binding square, tight and well-preserved; plates in deep, rich impressions; pages clean and bright. ESTC Citation No. T94749. Near Fine
