Portrait frontispiece of Gibbon, 12 engraved folding maps (some hand-coloured), 2 other maps. Simple contemporary book label of James Clerk. A few light abrasions to covers, scattered foxing. A most attractively bound library set in the edition of the classical and biblical scholar Sir William Smith (1813-1893), first published in 1854-55.
