W Dickinson 1787 - London, for W Dickinson [and others], 1787. large 4to, pp [9], vi-xx, 38, with 12 stipple engraved plates after designs by the author, including frontispiece 'portrait', First edition, this copy has the distinction of being uncut in boards, a state not commonly met with, the majority of copies, cut down and bound up, often with the sequel 'Annals of Horsemanship' of four years later. The work remains a brilliant and successful 18th Century lampoon of contemporary horsemanship. Uncut in original marbled boards, neatly respined in paper over cloth, corners restored, early paper label, minor spotting or foxing only, a very good clean copy overall with excellent wide margins [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
