Hardcover. thick 12mo, 18cm, The FirstEdition, 480p., original blue cloth, light blue stamped titles &decoration on front cover, gilt spine titles, some slight foxing towardsthe front margins on the preliminaries and less on the edges, someslight wear on the binding edges, produced on somewhat pulpy paper, verygood sound copy. (cgc) Provenance: Sold by Blackwell's, as noted on thefront endpaper to collector Hugh Whitney Morrison, 18 June 1969. TheBlackwell price was œ7.10.6. Purchased by David Mason Books, with hisnotation on the free fly, it was later sold to an Ottawa Collector. Smith pp34-36. The first book edition, first issue with all points. Page187 misnumbered as "871"; last page correctly numbered 480; Spine withtitle, author and publisher's name stamped in gilt. Etc. "Nostromo"first appeared serialized in "T.P.'s Weekly" in 1904. - In 1998, theModern Library ranked Nostromo 47th on its list of the 100 bestEnglish-language novels of the 20th century. F. Scott Fitzgerald said,"I'd rather have written Nostromo than any other novel." It is oftenregarded as Conrad's best novel. .
