Londini (London): Typis Neucomianis, 1654. [2], 173pp, [1], slightly later vellum, title in ink to head of spine, date added later to foot. Small chip to foot of spine, vellum slightly soiled. He had cause for anxiety concerning the future of the Commonwealth, and his position as literary champion of English liberties entitled him, he thought, to warn as well as to vindicate ... The Defensio Secunda has verve and vitality and the implicit promise of greater writing to come" (Parker, Milton, page 435). First Edition. Full Vellum. Good. 24mo.
