Monographie Des Loxiens
Leiden et Dusseldorf: Arnz & Comp., 1850 53 pages, followed by 54 hand colored plates after M. Badeker. First authors' presentation inscription translates roughly as "Given by the author to Monsieur the Count Vladimir Komar (sp?) in the name of friendship and esteem of knowledge. C.L. Bonaparte." Later binding in half red leather and marbled paper over boards. Raised spine bands with gilt stamped lettering on spine. To edge is gilded. Marbled end leaves. 6 plates with corrected caption-slips. First few leaves are a little darkened and show some foxing. Inscription is affected a little by foxing, though remains bold and clear. Plates shows very slight darkening along edges, and there are just a couple of small foxing spots in blank spaces. Illustrations remain bright and beautiful. A very lovely and unique copy of this scarce title.. Inscribed and Signed by First Author. First Edition. Half Leather - Hardbound. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by M. Badeker. 4to.
