Memoirs: [I] xxviii, 672pp (last blank), engraved frontis portrait (J.E.), double-page map, 5 plates (one double-page), folding family tree. [II] vi, [ii], 320, 366pp; engraved frontis portrait (Mary E.), 3 plates. Miscellaneous Writings: xxvi, 850pp (last colophon only), frontis, 3 plates. Uniformly bound in tree calf, spines decorated in gilt and with title labels, gilt dentelles and gold-blocked crest on the upper boards; rebacked neatly with matching leather, the original spines laid down; marbled edges and endpapers, bookplates on the latter (a small round one on the pastedowns and a larger one on the free endpapers. Slight rubbing of the extremities, small bump to lower corner of the upper board of the last volume, a little foxing or offsetting on the plates, otherwise very clean. A very good set. ***Title of Memoirs continues: 'comprising his diary from the year 1641 to 1705-6, and a selection of his familiar letters. To which is subjoined the Private Correspondence between King Charles I and his Secretary of State, Sir Edward Nichols, whilst His Majesty was in Scotland 1641, and at other times during the Civil War; also between Sir Edward Hyde, afterwards Earl of Clarendon, and Sir Richard Browne, Ambassador to the Court of France, in the time of King Charles I, and the Usurpation. .
