SAVAGE CLUB HOUSE DINNER - IN THE CHAIR HARRY ROUNTREE’. Menu card for dinner at the Savage Club in London on April 3, 1937. Chaired by Harry Rountree and illustrated by him, sitting on a bolting bull and dressed in Golf outfit.
London 1937 - 26x18cm. Excellent condition. The Savage Club has maintained the tradition of regular dinners for members and their guests, always followed by entertainment. These dinners are unique within Clubland and often feature a variety of well-known performers from Music Hall to concert hall. - Harry Rountree (1878-1950) was a prolific illustrator working in England around the turn of the 19/20th centuries. He was noted for his illustrations of British Golf Courses & golfing caricatures. Also attending among others were Percy Bradshaw (postcard artist), Robert Easton (American artist), George Stampa (British artist) and Tom Purvis (British painter).
