Two volumes [bound as one] ex-library from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, minimal markings First Editions, bound in one volume Brown half-leather cover over marbled boards 210mm x 130mm (8" x 5"). 182pp + plates, 36pp +tables, 53pp, 46pp, 95pp. Plates to volume two by Carolo Augustus Guilielmo Berends [Carl August Wilhelm Berends]. The authors were all leading anatomists, physiologists and pathologists of their day. Pierre Flourens pioneered the area of localisationism and discovered the anaethetic properties of chloroform. Jean Lobstein coined the term arteriosclerosis and founded a pathology museum in Strasbourg.
