New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1926. First Edition. Very Good binding. Signed. The signed, limited First Edition printing of the Pulitzer Prize-winning work, which "established the importance of Whitman's journalism and prose to the to the emergence of Leaves of Grass...Holloway's biography was stylistically innovative...[and] influenced by modernist narrative techniques" [LeMaster, "Walt Whitman: An Encyclopedia", p. 279]. This is #129 of 150 copies signed by Emory Holloway. In batik paper-covered boards, backed in blue cloth with a paper label. There is some wear to the top of the spine, and some toning to the verso of the front endpaper and the recto of the limitation leaf from an old -- and now discarded -- newspaper article. In the publisher's rather worn slipcase. (Myerson, D65; LeMaster, p. 279; Boswell, "Walt Whitman and the Critics", 1173). Very Good binding.
