London: Adam and Charles Black. 1902. First edition, first printing [first state binding]. Publisher's original blue cloth boards with silver cup illustration to the upper boards and titles to the spine. Housed in a purpose made quarter morocco solander box. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 9 full page plates by R. Noel Pocock. An attractive very good copy, the binding in unusually nice shape with only light rubbing and bumping at the extremities. The contents are entirely complete, without inscriptions or stamps and without the heavy foxing often seen with this title. There are a few tiny nicks and light tanning to the text block edge but in all respects a much nicer copy than often encountered. The author's first book. (McIlvaine A1a). Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
