Finely bound in attractive early leather bindings. Fine half mid blue morocco. Spines with five raised bands, each with gilt dots. The compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Blue cloth on boards with gilt ruled borders. Marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt. In volume two a previous owner has written his name and house name on the front blank endpaper and also another owner name appears on the title page, along with a telephone number and the state in the US where he lived, otherwise the volumes are clean and bright throughout. --- The complete seven volumes of Proust's masterwork issued by the Modern Library in two volumes, and attractively bound in leather. The bindings are unsigned but are certainly the work of a master bookbinder.
