Through the looking glass, and what Alice found there
London: Macmillan and Co, 1872. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. John Tenniel. FIRST EDITION. FIRST ISSUE. Dated 1872 but actually published in time for Christmas 1871. 8vo. Illustrated with fifty engravings by John Tenniel. Triple gilt ruled borders on boards which each have a circular illustration, of the Red and the White Queens, within triple lined frames. Dark green coated endpapers. The endpaper has split along the rear inner hinge, however the hinge is still firm and tight. The front hinge firm and uncracked. All edges gilt. The boards are a slightly rubbed & bumped to the edge, as to be expected, the top of the spine is a little frayed. The cloth on the rear hinge is a little worn and frayed; inside some light thumbing, mainly from book dealers checking the misprint on page 21 where the printers typed 'wade' and not 'wabe'. A very good copy of this famous classic which is a notoriously difficult book to find in good original condition.
