Matt Thomas' father was a slave prior to the Civil War. Matt, along with the rest of his family, was a sharecropper in Mississippi before he started on his many faceted career(s) and travels. Signed on the half title page by Mr. Thomas, with his address(hoping to sell more books is my bet) at the time. Truly an interesting and heartwarming tale. Book Condition is Very Good+; tightly bound, great color on cover and just a touch of shelf wear to the heel of front and rear panels. No marking or soiling to interior. 170pp., First Edition. Dust Jacket has a small closed tear on front cover, missing chips at each corner, with some soiling at crease before jacket flaps. Price intact.
