London: Tonson and Draper, et al., 1754. Later edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Complete set in 3 volumes. Paradise Lost in two volumes, 1754, stated Third Edition AND Paradise Regain'd, 1752, stated New Edition. Both with notes by Thomas Newton. Paradise Regain'd also includes additional poems by Milton. Hardcovers, 4tos., 9 x 11.5 inches, uniformly bound in full leather with raised bands and gilt design on the spines, marbled endpapers. Engraved frontis portrait of Milton in each volume, plus additional engraved plates by Hayman. lxix, 491, 460, 690 pp. Volume 2 includes a lengthy index. A Fair to Good set, exteriors worn but the text and contents are in Near Fine condition. 4 of the 6 boards are detached; lacks all original leather title labels. Shallow loss to leather at corners and spine ends. Contemporary ownership signature (Eliza Pembroke 1758) on upper margin of all three title pages; contents otherwise unmarked. An excellent candidate for rebinding; or useful as is for a reference copy. Milton's classic works, complete in 3 volumes. Due to the size of this set extra postage may be required.
