FIRST ENGLISH EDITION 1922, with a 2 page introduction by Edmund Dulac. 4to, 275 x 250 mm, 11 x 9¾ inches, cloth backed cream and deep blue illustrated boards, white paper label to upper cover printed green, pictorial endpapers printed blue. 14 very beautiful colour lithograph plates of Christmas subjects, all with children and toys. All illustrations drawn to the stone by the young pupils of Prof. Cizek at his Art School at the National Museum in Vienna. Plates have tissue guards with descriptive captions, otherwise no text. Professionally rebacked in cloth matching the original, corners slightly worn, covers slightly browned next to spine, label lightly foxed, a few light spots to boards, 1 tissue guard reinserted and slight worn and slightly creased at fore-edge, no inscriptions. A good plus copy, contents clean. First published the same year in Vienna. The preface by Francesca Wilson gives some background information on the school and its pupils.
