Man of La Mancha: A Musical Play.
Random House., New York. 1966 - 8vo - 21 x 14 cm.; xiv - 82 - [6] pp. Red cloth over boards with green cloth on spine. Gilt lettering on spine and a blind stamped Random House logo on the front board. Black and white frontis photograph from the stage production. The text block head edge is stained green as issued. Signed in black ink by the author on the recto of the front free end paper as follows: "2/20/72 To Frances Rich, Well-met on a mountain. With appreciation, Dale Wasserman". Francis Rich was a sculptor of some renown from the midwest and also the daughter of Irene Rich of Hollywood fame. Cast list from the first performance of November 22, 1965 in New York at the Washington Square Theatre is given on pages xiii and xiv. The book shows minor shelf wear to the board corners and spine tips, otherwise very clean and sound. The dust jacket (unclipped with $3.95 price intact) is worn on the edges at the corners and spine tips with a 2 cm closed tear on the front at the top and two creases on the lower portion of the back. The spine is faded and both front and back show rubbing / scuffing where the jacket overlays the red / green cloth interface on the boards. All in all, a quite nice copy of the first edition with a wonderful inscription and association.; Signed by Author [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]
