Bound in half leather with gilt lettering and decoration. Complete in Two Volumes. Two Volumes bound as One. Henri-Alexandre Wallon, 1812 - 1904, was an importantFrench historian and statesman. Originally devoting himself to a literary career, Wallon became in 1840 professor at the Ecole Normale Superieure under the patronage of Guizot, whom he succeeded as professor at the Faculte des Lettres in 1846. After being immortalized himself by carrying his proposition for the establishment of the Republic with a president elected for seven years. Condition: The textblock is tight and firm. There is some wear to the extremities, including some rubbing and discolouration, with the leather of the spine coming away. Internally the pages have slight browning and scattered background foxing. Overall the condition is good, with a very good interior..
