Ca. 41,5 x 30 cm.Louis Boisot (1530-1576), belonging to the nobility of the Southern-Netherlands, was admiral of the Zealand sea beggar fleet (Watergeuzen) during the Eighty Years' War and commander of the fleet during the siege of Leiden. This portrait is number 4 of a series of 4 portraits engraved by Cornelis Visscher (1628 - 1658), who collaborated with the publisher Pieter Soutman in a series of four portraits commemorating key figures in the siege story.- A fine decorative portrait.Not in Muller, Portretten; Van Gent & Paesie, Zeeuwse zeehelden, pp.38-49.
