Paris: Societe Des Beaux Arts, 1890. Three quarter leather, dark green morocco marbled boards. Edgewear and worn corners; bumped back bottom corner. Disbound: both front and rear boards are detached and included. Front board and fep detached together. Pencilled price on fep. Limited, Numbered Salon edition, circa 1890. Number 107. With the exception of a few pages toward the front and back of the book, most pages are quite bright, white. There is some discoloration, my guess is it's due to cigar smoke rather than tanning. There is no smoke odor to the book. Darkened borders. We noted what may be finger smudges on the margins on several pages. Amazingly, detailed engravings in different tones: sepia, black, etc. throught. Multi-color frontispiece. Illustrations covered in tissue. Bright gilt top. Cover of spine, which would have been leather, is missing. A stain to marble print area of back cover. Leather trim on covers are bordered in bright gilt. Quarter inch tear on back free endpaper. Preface by Anatole France. Text is English. An amazing volume worth restoring. Thanks for shopping with us. 100% of your purchase benefits charity and supports literacy and life-long learning.. Limited. Three-Quarter Leather. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Rochegrosse, Georges. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
