J.M.Dent, London, 1909. 4to. 291pp. White buckram, gilt lettered and decorated. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Four red ribbon ties present, although one is only just holding. With a tipped-in captioned colour frontispiece and tissue protector, and twelve splendid tipped-in colour plates, plus endpaper and title page decorations, two full-page black and white plates and various header and tail drawings and vignettes. Buckram marked, soiled and discoloured, with a small crease to the base of the spine panel and some light wear to extremities. Frontis tissue spotted and with some unsightly marking and staining to endpapers and the occasional tiny stain several blank preliminary leaves, but thereafter a lovely bright copy. Publisher's slip noting the additional limited edition plate laid-in, as issued. Ownership inkstamp to front pastedown. A somewhat handled copy, but near fine internally, the plates in particular ("worked over, revised, and coloured by the artist") quite superb.. Signed by Illustrator(s). 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good.
