London: Rainbow Press,, 1978. Square octavo. Publisher's black calf by Zaehnsdorf, titles gilt to spine, decorated endpapers, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. With the black cloth slipcase as issued. Frontispiece drawing by Leonard Baskin. A fine copy. First edition, first impression, issued only as a signed limited edition. This is number 16 of 200 copies, specially bound and signed by the author. "Orts" is a Middle English word meaning scraps or leftovers. A typescript of Orts contains the epigraph "The lady's leavings are the dog's dainties." Several of the poems contained herewith were left over from Lumb's Remains - a preliminary version of the epilogue to Gaudete, published the preceding year.
